@Hayato Kagayama 5

Since Tadaoki Hosokawa did not want to lose Hayato who was the retainer he loved the most, he  repeatedly ordered Hayato to abandon his faith in Jesus Christ. When Hayato was told to choose between giving up his land of 6,000 koku or giving up his faith, his mind did not waver.  He chose to abandon everything he had in this world for the sake of Jesus and store up treasure in heaven just as his former overlord and Christian mentor Takayama Ukon had done.  Although he served his master Tadaoki with unswerving loyalty, he refused to give an inch in the matter of his faith.

For a long time Hayato had prayed every day for his archenemies.  With his prayers, Hayato fought against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of this dark age, and against evil spirits. By continuing to fight, he became more than a conqueror.

In 1619, when Tadaoki at last realized that he could not rob Hayato of his faith in Jesus Christ no matter what he might do to him, he sent a messenger to Hayato to pronounce a death sentence.  The messenger said that Tadaoki had ordered Hayato's head to be chopped off solely because of his Christian faith.   Hayato replied calmly that he was grateful to Tadaoki for providing him with the opportunity to die for Jesus, which he desired with all his heart.

Then, Hayato's house and property were confiscated, and he was stripped of his high position.  As someone who had disobeyed his master he lost everything and his family were confined in a peasant's cottage.

"Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. --- He knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days." Daniel 6:10

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ------ Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.  "  Romans 8:35and 37
