Footprints of Yukinaga Konishi

3. Period of rule at Udo (Southern part of Kumamoto Pref.) (B)

Yukinaga was glad to greet Christians who came to this district. This was the desperate act which Yukinaga continued to do from the time when he was in Shodo island. From this, we can see that Yukinaga awed and served God more than Hideyoshi.
With protection of Christians by Yukinaga, about 30,000 Christians lived in this area. I wonder how glad Yukinaga was when he looked at this sight.
Yukinaga must have felt the joy when he thought that he would go to Heaven together with those who believed Jesus Christ.

Under such situation, Hedeyoshi told Yukinaga about sending troops to Korea. Yukinaga did not agree with sending troops from the beginning.
It was because he did not want to burden people with a war and he also knew that Japan would have a better relationship with Korea through peaceful acquaintances and trade rather than war because he had been to foreign countries as a merchant.

Although Yukinaga continued to make efforts not to make war, Hideyoshi commanded him to send troops to Korea.
