Footprints of Yukinaga Konishi
4. Aggression to Korea (A)
In 1592, troops were sent to Korea at last.
Yukinaga went to Korea as a commander of the first group, and under his
command were So Yoshitoshi in Tsusima, who was a husband of Yukinaga’s
daughter, and Matsura Shigenobu in Hirado and Omura Yoshiaki in Omura,
who were Christian feudal lords.
Although Yukinaga didn’t want to go to Korea, it must have been God’s
comfort that Christians were sent with him. I believe Yukinaga prayed for
gratitude to God.
Yukinaga had an
idea.
It was to finish the war soon. Yukinaga must have prayed God with the Christian
feudal lords under his command who also were friends in faith.
Unlike other feudal lords, they wished that they would have a friendship
with Korea and Ming (China) and mutually prosper through the trade.
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of
the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, "teaching them
to observe all things
that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the
end of the age."
(Matt.28:19-20)
As these Words say, Yukinaga had a wish that people all over the world,
including Korean people, to experience the true salvation.
