Footprints of Yukinaga Konishi

5. Before the Sekigahara War (A)

It seemed that Yukinaga, who came back from Korea in 1598, hardly returned to his territory.  As one of bureaucrats of the Toyotomi administration, he went to Osaka to help his friend, Ishida Mitsunari and worked with joy for people and his friends.

In August of 1600, when a battle between East side (Tokugawa) and West side (Toyotomi) was about to break out, Yukinaga prayed for averting the war, but West side of Army group gathered at Ogaki Castle (Which located in the center of Japan).

Yukinaga, trying to do the best in the situation that God gave him, considered various plans for his friend, Mitsunari.

On September 13th, 1600, just before the Sekigahara (which located in the center of Japan) War, feudal lords of West side of Army group gathered at the Ogaki Castle and had a strategy meeting.  Ukita Hideie, Yukinaga and others recommended to stay at Ogaki Castle and fight against Tokugawa Ieyasu. However, Mitsunari insisted, saying gWe will go out of the Ogaki Castle at night, and take up our position at Sekigahara.h  Yukinaga replied to Mitsunari that it was a nonsensical idea, and that he should take it away.  But Mitsunari didnft listen to him and West side of Army group moved to Sekigahara.
